I know, it gets old. I’m busy, so I haven’t been blogging or even doing the occasional perfunctory tweet. (Until today, I hadn’t even fired up TweetDeck for over 6 months!)

My work has transitioned from mostly web projects a couple of years ago to mostly print design. I have built a couple new websites since I last posted, but they’re microsite/intranet projects based on a corporate template, so there’s not a lot for any member of the general public to see there. Both of the sites are based on Joomla 1.5.x, and I haven’t delved into Joomla 1.6 yet.

I’m continually amazed at the ease and functionality built into WordPress. Away for 6 months, I log into the admin and click all the automatic update buttons, and BOOM, everything is flawlessly and instantly updated. I long for the day that Joomla’s engine is that easy to use and keep updated. (Although, the Update Manager for Joomla! plugin is pretty sweet…)

Twitter has acquired TweetDeck, hence today’s firing up of said Adobe Air app. This is great for the TweetDeck team, and has some interesting potential for the TweetDeck users. But after 6 months of living unplugged from the twittersphere, I can’t say I’ve missed much. More power to the people who use and love Twitter, especially in the Arab Spring countries, but this Gen X ugly American prefers e-mail to tweets and txts.

I have adopted Facebook, and find it an easy, breezy way to keep up with far-flung friends and relatives. And I did set up a separate page for waynehastings.net from my personal Facebook page, not that it matters in any real sense, at least for now.

So if you’re reading this, let me know what’s going on in your life and work. And if I can be of service in the marketing and design of your company’s communications, all the better. I look forward to hearing from you.
